Pile Em High

The good elves at Amma's Tearoom in Gimli are very, very busy these days. Barb and her staff are baking all 106 cookie recipes from Martha Stewart's Holiday Cookies 2005 magazine. They've been baking since October and had their first offering on Saturday. All 3,400 cookies that they had baked sold in one hour. The baking continues and Martha has been notified. All proceeds will land in the hands of a local charity.

The Casting Days Are Over

The Red River is frozen. Or almost frozen. There was an open pond just north of the locks and at least a dozen anglers were desperately trying to get in the season's last casts on Sunday. Tune up those ice augers!

How Could You Resist

Taking the picture of these cookies was torture. If was nearly impossible to not snack while shooting. The treats are from High Tea Bakery on Portage Avenue. They also do lovely decorated cookies shaped as snowflakes. Pick some up for the hostess on the way to the party.

"If I stick my head in the bush, maybe no one will notice that I'm a really nice buck." This bad boy was busy rounding up two does on Sunday afternoon and couldn't care less about cars or cameras.
